Adult Mental Health First Aid

For anyone aged 16 and above, Adult MHFA England courses incorporate group activities, presentations and discussions in either two-day, one-day or half-day sessions. After undertaking these courses, you can expect to have improved knowledge and confidence in tackling mental health conversations and have the skills needed help reduce stigma around mental ill health. 

For Mental Health First Aiders, the two-day course is designed to give you a deeper understanding of mental health and practical skills to spot mental health issues. You’ll discover which interpersonal skills are needed and learn how and where to guide someone to appropriate support. Meanwhile, MHFA Champions is a one-day course that will teach you to recognise signs and symptoms of common mental health issues, provide initial support and create and maintain a healthier workforce or community. Finally, the half-day Mental Health Aware course is designed to increase mental health awareness and covers how to look after wellbeing.

You’ll gain a detailed understanding of factors that impact young people’s mental health and wellbeing, as well as gain the practical skills needed to spot warning signs of mental health issues. The courses teaches about how a young person can be helped to recover their mental health.

Online Youth Mental Health First Aid

This Mental Health First Aid online course will qualify you as a Youth Mental Health First Aider. Undertaken remotely, you’ll learn all the skills taught in the face-to-face Youth Mental Health First Aid course. Gain a detailed understanding of young people’s mental health and any factors that can potentially impact wellbeing. You’ll also learn how to spot triggers and signs of mental health issues, and build the confidence to support a young person if they open up to you in distress. You’ll be able to guide them to further appropriate support and develop the tools needed to take care of your own mental wellbeing.

Mental Health First Aid Refresher

Mental Health First Aid training should be kept up to date to ensure you’re providing the most appropriate and effective support to those who need it. The MHFA Refresher course can be taken every three years by anyone who’s trained as a Mental Health First Aider or MHFA Champion. This refresher course, which is a four-hour session, ensures your awareness of mental health support is current, updates your skills and leaves you with the confidence you’re making real change.
