Five small ways to help you feel more fulfilled
Feeling fulfilled means different things for different people.
For some, it’s about money. For others, it’s about family, or perhaps their career. Whatever your version and views on fulfilment, here we present some small ways in which you could potentially feel more fulfilled.
Be disciplined in your personal and professional life. Whether you’re in full time work or education, it’s important to know when to say no and to have time where you’re ‘switched off’. You can start by switching off from any emails over the weekend!
While it’s important to know when to say no, it’s equally as important to say yes sometimes, and to embrace change and new experiences. Take up that new hobby, take that trip you’ve always wanted to go on or put your name forward for more responsibilities.
Focus on relationships over possessions this festive period. Instead of worrying about what you need to buy, or what presents you’ll be opening this year, focus on spending quality time with your loved ones. If you’ve got time off work or from studying, use it to finally meet up for a coffee with an old friend you’ve been meaning to catch up with since last year.
Meditate. Sometimes feeling fulfilled is about feeling present in a given moment, meditating can help you learn how to live in the moment and feel grounded, feeling fulfilled with every breath you take.
Start your day by writing down three things you’re grateful for. It might surprise you how quickly your mindset will change when your first thoughts each day are about the things that make you happiest in life.
Remember, whatever fulfilment means to you, bear in mind that how you’re feeling now may well change in the weeks and months ahead. Baby steps are better than no steps; keep an eye on your goals but don’t get down if you’re feeling a little bit unfilled at the moment. It can happen to us all.
