There are many tips and ideas that can be shared. These can be to focus on your breathing, taking a pause, journaling, going for a walk or spending time with a friend.

If there is one tip that is easy, fun and you can do now, it is to write yourself a letter –

Write it Forward

How many times has your mate come to you because maybe they had an issue that they needed your help with or just so they could vent? Recall how you acted and supported them. Now is the time to do that for yourself:

Sit down in a quiet space, take out a clean, blank piece of paper.
(You could type this up on your phone but…writing as old school as it can seem, has been found scientifically help anchor the message in our minds)

Take a deep breath in for 4 counts, then hold it for 4 counts and then breathe out for 4 counts (this is called triangle breathing, it’s pretty cool to use when you are having a bad day or when you know you just need to chill and take a breather.

Write to yourself, as if you were a friend talking to you. What would you say?
We are often so harsh with ourselves; we beat ourselves up over all sorts of things. How about giving yourself some kudos over something you are proud of instead? Getting past exams for example, no matter how you did in them, you deserve a pat on the back. You showed up and did your best, so celebrate that.
