Kayla Campbell has joined the Govox team to support us on a range of highly valuable assignments, as part of a university placement.
Kayla is currently studying towards an MSc in Health Psychology with King’s College London.
What will you be supporting Govox with during your time working with us?
During my time working with Govox I will be using health psychology models and theory, and models of psychological wellbeing, and mapping these to the Govox check-in categories of wellbeing to identify what is already being captured by the Govox model and any potential amendments. I will also be looking at the accuracy and construct validity of the ‘Happiness Scores’ for capturing psychological wellbeing. And finally, I will be reviewing the ‘Personalised Wellbeing Reports’ and bringing suggestions of information that could be included.
What interests you about mental health/wellbeing?
What interests me about mental health and wellbeing is that it’s so dynamic. There are many factors that influence our mental health and wellbeing, and it is highly important that we all take the time to consider our mental health and wellbeing. Since studying A level psychology, I have always been interested in psychological approaches to mental health and wellbeing and ways that it can be improved.
What do you hope to do post-graduation?
Post-graduation I would like to use the skills and knowledge I have gained during my MSc course and use them within the health or mental health sector.
What would you say is your top tip for keeping motivated and doing all your university assignments during the current situation?
My top tip to keep motivated during the current situation is to ensure that you have plenty of ‘me time’. In the times we find ourselves in, it’s important that we take care of our mental health and wellbeing. It’s important to find ways to de-stress and have regular breaks from studying. My favourite ways to de-stress are going for walks, reading, meditating or having a phone call with a friend or family member. My biggest advice is to sure you’re organising your day to keep on track with your studying and within that schedule in time during the day or evenings to do things that you enjoy that help you relax. This will help you feel more rejuvenated and give you the headspace ready to get stuck into your assignments. ‘Me time’ includes looking after your health and mental health, which includes getting enough sleep, keeping active, staying healthy and staying connected with friends and family.
Tell us one thing not many people will know about you
One thing that not many people know about me is that I follow a minimalist lifestyle. During the first lockdown I decided to begin my journey to minimalism and haven’t looked back since! Following a minimalist lifestyle doesn’t mean that I sit in an empty room, it just means I am more conscious of what I have and spend very consciously and have less clutter!
